Blackbird Interactive has 330 employees, 40 of them are working on the game according to a news source (take that with a grain of salt). I know not all of them are devs. but this hotfix is all you managed to fix in 3 1/2 days, out of the plethora of netcode issues, and basic polishing that needs to get done.
Any reasonable human being knows you're not going to redo/rework the campaign, fire/hire an entire new mocap team, find new voice actors, etc... It's already done and out there. I'd like anyone here to tell me a single AAA title that entirely scrapped it's campaign after release... Oh right, there isn't one.
Anyway, I can't join 70% of lobbies, your quick match works 20% of the time the other 80% it infinity loops and counts endlessly, or joins then drops. Games drop constantly, and one of the war games maps, is so messed up, the lag makes it virtually unplayable.
"Entitlements for Fleet Command Extra Content, Backer Extra Content, Pre-Order bonus are not registered by the game on EGS."
I get you need to provide people with what they paid for. but how is that something that took 3 days to fix?
"A login screen would **occasionally** appear when losing connection in multiplayer lobbies."
Never once saw this, I have over 50 hours in the game. I doubt this was even that big of an issue across the board.
"Ships built from a Carrier could **occasionally** be unable to be selected and unresponsive to orders."
Again, never once had this issue, nor did i see anyone complain about this in the game or even in your discussions.
"Another player joining a Skirmish lobby could reset the map selection to Deep Space"
Honestly? This was considered a pressing matter? They can keep switching it back for a few weeks, there's bigger issues to deal with.
I don't get how you managed to create such a bloated staff pool of 330 people, and you can only get 40 people to work on this game.
Have you seen No Rest for the Wicked's team size? They have a little over 80 people working for the entire company, and i know not all of them are programmers and engineers. They were able to get 6 hot fixes out within a week of it's release, and you're talking about, "We'll have one for you next week!"... Do better.
So with how low effort this is. and how the focus is primarily on players not receiving extra game content. (pre-release, the only things pinned were updates about the CE's not getting delivered, so that's weird!) I can't imagine the game hasn't already been written off, and the Schedule C is ready to be filed.
All you have done is, make it so peoples purchased content shows up. (Which sure, i get it, there's a financial obligation there. But it just feels like you're checking all the boxes before you file a loss and write off the game). Fixed a login screen that I can't even find images of anywhere. A newly built ship can't be targeted or moved? Half of your ships don't take commands, your hostility stances mess with the movement, and the issue you're speaking of, was because the ship couldn't be selected below another ships hitbox, without hitting F4 and shift clicking their groups to deselect them (modern controls, and yeah it's annoying, but still, not a big issue). and a minor inconvenience of a map switching when a new player joins a lobby, when most players can't join a lobby to begin with.
Whatever... I have to ask... Did you build this game without a single programmer, and exclusively use blueprints in UE4? because that's the only way it could be this messed up, and would explain how slow you are to address performance issues.
I mean... I'm complaining about performance issues and i'm running:
5950x 4.7 ghz
64gigs of 4000 mhz CL22
2x (Lapped) EVGA 3090 ftw3 ultra's in NVlink. at 2100mhz gpuclock (running a single card for the game because NVlink barely works for games today)
980 Pro m.2 (read/write: 7,000/5,100 MB/s, which is my d: drive, so no OS slowing it)
in an Obsidian 1000D with a dual reservoir custom loop that runs through a modified liquid chiller.
I get 30-80 fps average with DLSS on (the nVidia travesty tool used by incompetent developers to cover up their games poor performance), in a game built in UE4... I can't even imagine how hard the average mid range PC is working.
This rig doesn't even get above 40c CPU and 65c GPU under load. It doesn't thermal throttle. It's definitely not getting bottle-necked by anything. So the only thing I can seem to find wrong, is your team.
Legit questions i have about your workplace:
Did you even test the devs programming knowledge before hiring them?
Did the 290 other employees, who i can only speculate are management/marketing/unpaid interns getting a crash course in "How not to run a game Company", even know you could do that? (You're really taking the light off Todd Howard right now, because Starfield was more finished than this at release)
Was it pure nepotism, like a 330 person gaming company, with only 40 employees working on their AAA title suggests?
Beyond this, how do you screw up the deliveries of the CE/FIG editions so bad, with so much staff in management and marketing? Who's managing management, or are they all off on some yoga retreat like your companies web page suggests, with that tacky feng shui rug and pillow arrangement. lol
Anyway, if you don't start "actually" fixing the game, you might as well close your doors. If you do decide to close them, please rename your company, "Dunning-Kruger Interactive". And please, for the love of god, go into a different line of work.
