!!! SECRET !!! - King Mammoth
From this point on, you can go back to the wilderness Pogo was
expelled to and challenge King Mammoth, an incredibly powerful boss,
for a neato accessory. Sniff around to find him - his scent is a
running mammoth icon. He moves really quickly around the field,
which makes catching him extremely difficult. Try to trap him in a
corner - he won\'t run through Pogo or Gori. When you\'re running
around trying to grab him, press A frequently - I have found that
pressing A on him is the only way to enter battle with him. If you
run into the square that he currently occupies, it will only make you
pause. You have to hit A to enter battle.
Only attempt this if you have the best equipment and a high level,
something like 18+. It would be horrible if you spent three days
trying to catch the accursed thing, only to die because you weren\'t
strong enough to take him. Power up in the area just before Zaki\'s
village so you have tons of Huge Meatbones to use in the battle.
His defense is high enough to negate about 75% damage, and he seems
to have around 10000 hit points. The Rock doesn\'t seem to work on
him, so equip it. Put Pogo in front, and continually hit him with
his Dodege attack. Make sure Gori is not touching King Mammoth, and
pass all of his turns to Pogo until Pogo needs healing, then have
Gori use a Huge Meatbone. When you\'re out of Huge Meatbones, don\'t
worry about Gori, he\'s worthless now. Have Pogo continually hit
King Mammoth with Dodege until he needs healing, then back off and
use normal-sized Meatbones until you have enough health to go at him
again, then use Dodege, etc. Hopefully, you have around 90
Meatbones.
Chances are, you aren\'t strong enough when he first appears, after
Zaki\'s pit. You have until the end of the scenario to come back for
him, though, so don\'t spend years powering up now. And no, there is
no way to fight King Mammoth with any party other than Pogo and Gori.
If you manage to beat him, congratulations, you are rewarded with a
King Fang, a badass accessory that grants a +20 Strength bonus and
immunity to Poison, Stun, Sleep, Drunk, and Stone! Equip this on
Pogo immediately. :-)
