"Big Hero 6" is headed to television. According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Kim Possible" creator Mark McCorkle and Bob Schooley are adapting the film as a Disney XD series.
Picking up where the movie left off, the series will follow Hiro, Baymax and their friends Wasabi, Honey Lemon, Fred and Go Go as they defend their city from scientifically enhanced villains. All the while, Hiro will face the challenges of being San Fransokyo Institute of Technology's newest prodigy and all the social hurdles that entails.
"Our colleagues at Walt Disney Animation Studios have created a brilliant new world, inspired by Marvel, with vivid, unique characters,” president and chief creative officer of Disney Channels Worldwide Gary Marsh said in a statement. "We are thrilled to have the opportunity to further develop these characters into a world class animated series -- full of fun, action and the kind of endearing storytelling that only Mark, Bob -- and Baymax -- can deliver."
The film, a Disney adaptation of a lesser-known Marvel comic, featured Hiro and his robot pal Baymax as they attempted to become heroes and uncover the truth behind the death of Tadashi, Hiro's bother and Baymax's creator. The Oscar-nominated superhero action comedy earned more than $657 million worldwide.
McCorkle, Schooley and Nick Filippi will produce the series with Filippi as a supervising director. "Big Hero 6" will also be produced by Disney Television Animation.http://comicvine.gamespot.com/ar ... ney-xd/1100-155009/
