Jim Zub and Steven Cumming's creator-owned Image Comics' title Wayward has been optioned for development as a "Japanese animated or live action series" by Manga Entertainment, according to Zub. The two creators will be creative consultants on the project, handling the development of the original story treatment and character designs.
“We are very excited to be working with Jim and Steven to bring the characters and world of Wayward to life for the screen," said Manga Entertainment COO Jerome Mazandarani. "Jim and Steven have managed to create a truly unique high stakes action-drama that feels fresh and authentic in its mixture of Japanese and Celtic mythology. We are very confident this story will connect with audiences across Asia and the rest of the world.”
Described by Image as "Buffy: The Vampire Slayer for a new generation," Wayward follows Rori Lane as comes to Japan to reunite with her mother and finds that she has ancient powers that attract supernatural creatures living in Tokyo.
"As soon as Jerome and I started talking about a collaboration, I had a good feeling Manga Entertainment would be the right place to develop Wayward," added Zub. "The crew at Manga intimately understand the anime market and have helped popularize some of the biggest brands in that space. As Japanese art and animation continues to go global, co-producing Wayward at a Japanese studio with Manga taking the lead is a natural choice.”
No production timeline for Wayward was given.
由Manga Entertainment改编成真人剧或电视动画，这漫画就出了20话，这么着急，真得可行吗？

等等，Powers的漫画、电视剧都没看，10话内容拍了两季？查了下，Powers V1就38话了，这么丰富的取材，只改编了这点内容？

Just days after news broke that the Image Comics series Wayward has been optioned for television, IDW Games has announced the contemporary fantasy will become a board game. Writer Jim Zub and illustrator Steven Cummings will work the project with Jon Gilmour, co-designer of Dead of Winter and Outpost: Siberia.
Debuting in 2014, Wayward is set in modern Tokyo and focuses on teenagers imbued with supernatural powers to defend the world from Yokai, Japanese mythological creatures and spirits. The fully cooperative board game will permit players to assume the roles of the comic’s heroes, who are working together to defeat villains controlled by the game itself. Wayward joins IDW Games’ roster of tabletop adaptations such as The X-Files, Back to the Future, and the upcoming Planet of the Apes and Atari series of games.
Wayward is a passion project for Steven and I, and games are near and dear to our hearts,” Zub said in a statement, “so getting the chance to bring both of those wonderful elements together with Jon and the rest of the IDW Games crew is an absolute thrill.”
No release date was given for the game. Wayward, Vol. 3: Out From the Shadows is in stores now; Wayward #21 is scheduled for release on June 28. The second Wayward deluxe hardcover is scheduled for July 5.

以前我看，现在超级英雄基本都弃了。不过比起这俩，我更喜欢Archer & Armstrong。
